mk 3 escorts were the worst ever evolution of a car in history. mk1, mk2 were excellent and i'd still have one today, but then the mk3 and .

ford are excellent at making the worst decisions, like ending the capri, and what did they replace it with eventually, the awful probe.

maestro worse car i've ever owned though, and i'm ashamed to admit i ever drove one, nevermind owning one!
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

generally british engineering at the level of austin and ford etc for that whole period was total pants.
anything with fiat written on it is a big hairy sack of nuts as well.

Not exactly the luckiest person with vehicles, though, are you. How many
times have you threatened to sell your first gen upto just?

bit different with the surf though, i knew it would be work! it's only for fun and i don't drive it daily or anything, but i really wanted a surf, and i really wanted one that wasn't plastic (stir) or looked like the other 4x4's out there (stir some more). as for threatening to get rid...it's got MOT on saturday, so there'll be another smarties out the pram incident by sunday morning on here!

but i've bought some naff cars, maestro the worst, 800 vitesse turbo (quick but problematic, well that's rovers for you...75 cdt excluded, awesome car), a rotten orion, so rusty you could have hiab the body from the chassis without much resistance!

oh yeah...vauxhall brava 4x4 pick up, i actually liked it but nothing worked on it, and it was rotten.

HB Viva - learnt to drive on one in 1969 and swore I'd never buy a Vauxhall (wife's now got a 52 Corsa 1.7D and it's great to drive). 1100's (any variant), totally agree with earlier suggestion of Marina, also Hillman Avenger (plasticy $$$$), MK 3 Cortina (rust buckets) and early Mini's.

I had a Peugeot 104, probably the lamest car I ever owned. Only plus was the MPG figures.

Ironically, the only car I've ever been pulled in by the old bill because of how I was driving.

They said I was going to fast round a roundabout, "cos the car was leaning over a lot" Huh? The damn thing would nearly fall over if you lent on it!!!

I'm sure that thing would have fitted in the bed of the Yank Dodge Pickup I owned at the same time!

Worst I ever owned was a Rover 216 (G reg). It developed lots of really weird steering and braking faults (great!) and eventually dissolved on the drive. Used to leak like a sieve too. Mega cr@p!

                          Other cr@p cars:-

Most french cars PARTICULARLY the peugeot people carrier! Terrible!
Vauxhalls - kill my back, terrible seats.

                          LANDY DEFENDER at number one!

Strange how opinions differ on cars - I bought a Mk3 Escort in 84 and in 8 years I clocked up 215,000 miles before I wrote it off without any problems apart from normal wear and tear (Exhaust @ 108k & clutch at 115k). The only thing I can think is that it may have been better cos it was built in Germany.

Worst I've ever owned was a 306 - bought it 3 year old with 24k on the clock - it was nothing but grief ........ to put it in perspective I've also had two Montego estates one of which was more than a bit iffy but the Pug still gets the $$$$ car award

Happy as a pig in sheeet now though - Focus for running about and a Surf for real fun !

Life is too important to take seriously !

hehe, too true, here's another difference in opinion, my little brother has a 306 diesel and will not part with it! he travels a fair bit for work, but even more for his sports up and down the uk. it's on about 250k now, it looks like sh1te and sounds llike a tank, but has never not started and fuel economy is excellent.
