  • 150,000 Km

Just to say that my Surf’s odometer turned 150,000 kilometres this morning.

I’ve done about 2.5 K in it over the last 7 weeks and all is going fine.

I’ve gone from thinking something is going to break (after reading all the worrying posts on this forum) to realising that I do seem to have a good reliable vehicle worthy of Toyota’s fine reputation.

Engine was replaced at 144,000 with one that had done about 50,000 so hopefully this Surf will have plenty of life left in it.

Even the ridiculous MPG hasn’t bankrupted me yet
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

Mine's on 131,000 miles! Had a head change but that's it.

190,000 - on the original engine mind! Was just over the 100,000km when I got it in 2002.

EDIT: 190,000 is an approximate reading. The last year or so I've been on 33" tyres which means it has actually travelled another 10% further in that time!!

        143,000 -

143,000 and at some unknown point in the past its been changed to miles... god alone knows what its actual kilometerage is. sweet as though, so I aint complaining. do have to top the coolant up now and then though - bit of a leak on the top of the rad.

          That’s good to know.

I have a slight oil leak on mine at the moment somewhere near the oil filter…. nothing that I’m going to worry about. I’ll have a closer look when I change the oil filter. I took the stump guard off on Sunday morning and had a good look around.

Do people think that 190,000kms is a lot.

I always thought that for a diesel 118,000 miles was nothing...

No...but it sounds good. My last Toyota engine (2.0L petrol Camry) blew up at 170,000 miles or 283,000Km.

It's bugger all for a diesel. Makes the V6/V8 chaps envious with regards to
                          their engine lifespans, however.

The average diesel engine should do 200-350,000 miles before needing serious overhall, mercs will do 500,000 miles before rebuild, depending on service history of course.

Alot depends who owned it before, and motor that be abused near the red line to often or not maintained will be junk by 100,000 miles. well maintained and treated with respect and the sky is the limit!
