Roof Bars

A link to the Australian Surf site was posted a week or so ago and on it was a Surf, I'm sure 2nd generation, with roof bars. These were not the usual type here that fit from left to right and are attached to the door appatures but a fitted channel that for example the Jeep GC has. I need to fit roof bars so have been looking at fitting a pair of Escort estate rails but would rather hold out if there is a custom fit available. I already have the ones mentioned earlier that go side to side but don't like them. Anyone out there have any info where these may be available from?

Far as I know, there are no custom rails. Whatever can be made to fit is
generally the case.

Pika 1971, these are the ones. Do you have any info on where to get hold of them please? I've tried Toyota main dealers here and, no suprise, they don't know of anthing. Help appreciated.

A few tips though..

You will need to remove the roof lining to fit them properly.
I didn't get the crossbars, I got a thule set of bars instead. so I could take of the thule rack and fit a ski rack when in the resort.
Don't use the fixings provided, they are designed to be used without removing the roof lining, they act like a rawlplug, but as we all know rawlplugs can get pulled out.
I took the roof lining out and bolted them from the inside, and siliconed around the feet.
One year later no leaks, nothing loose, and takes a lot of weight, dread to think how much, 3 pairs of skis, 3 pairs of boots, 3 large ski bags fully loaded etc weigh but its a lot.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry that I have not acknowledged earlier but I have been away. Good advice about bolting from underneath, not worth trusting a plug.
