Obviously it aint that simple as just getting a volume of people to sign a petition and then it becomes law. What happens next? How many signatories do u need before it goes to the next stage. If it were that simple then 'someone' could just petition the govt that
"Surfs are given priority on all motorways, be zero tax rated, be provided with free fuel etc etc.

About all we can reasonably expect is that it helps to bring a certain issue to the attention of those in power. The more signatures, the more attention.
