tomtom seems to be the most popular but navman stuff is very good.
i use I-Go software/maps but im not sure if thier all in one units are available yet over here.
I've used the nippers Garmin, it was very good but there a bit expensive and the american birds voice got on my tits, John Cleese sounds good though! does he talk to you like he talks to Manuel
He got a garmin cos he reccons the military use em and they got more satalites up there, i could'nt see em though
Which is the best, cheapest, clearest, easiest to use/set-up, upgradeable from the intraweb, in-car sat. nav, and where from.
I thank you.
I do around 35000 miles a year with Tom Tom 5 on an Ipaq. Its so good I never use the sat Nav built into the company car. Nor shal I use the system in the new Prius when it arrives.
I am what you might call a "power user" and have 310 customers saved as POI's as well as sarnie shops, hotels, petrol stations.
I have had odd problems with one way streets and daft routes but its 99.9% reliable.
I've got the original Tom Tom Go (Usually referred to as the Classic these days). No probs at all, it's got full postcodes and I update traffic cameras regularly (Dunno why - I never speed )
I usually use Cleese too - unless one of the kids changes it to Ozzie for a laugh - can't wait to see the MiL's face when Ozzie says "Turn f f f f fncking right !"
Biggest risk with the stick ons is some Chav tw@t spotting the mark on the screen and deciding to take your window out on the off chance you're stupid enough to leave it in there.
I've had the window done twice and lost the mount on one of them - these days I leave nowt in the car, glove box open and a sign saying there's b@gger all worth nicking

Al.
Me too, although I have vresion 6. It's great. There are a few new roads that are not on it but apart from that I love it
Like any other software There are several of the navigator-esque PDA/smartphone software varieties available on t'internet for free, some are not strictly legal downloads of fully functioning and very popular navigator software already mentioned here.
Also take a look at www.gpsu.co.uk if you want to use for offroading, i can't quite make it out yet but i think it'll be useful when i do.
We have a NAVMAN also i have TOMTOM 5 on my company PDA.
TOMTOM is far superior & a lot easier to use. I have a Q-TEK PDA which has BLUETOOTH, I purchased a bluetooth SAT Receiver & i have a Cracked copy of TOMTOM 5 as it is very expensive.
Tom Tom is the most popular, but the cheapest is still near £200. Fine for those of you who cover loads of miles every week, but as you all know, I only drive about 100 miles per month!
We just want a budget sat nav but with all the functions of the bigger (stupidly priced) models for those days when we venture out into the big bad British isles. At the moment the Navman looks the best VFM.
