I've got all the bits together to change the oil, drained the oil but can't get the old oil filter off. I tried the screw driver through the side knocking it with a metal rod and hammer now it's all mangled but still not budging. It's a 3.0 TD. please help.

I did have a draper oil filter wrench it was a webbing strap loop with a bolt on the side which I think was supposed to twist the filter off as you tightened the bolt but all that did was squeese the filter and dent it then snap!
Ended up using a square section steel tube and a hammer. It took $$$$$$ ages! My left hand looks like a bag of walnuts. I don't want to think about how long that must have been on me truck.
