  • Wanted Rivets lots of em !

Does anyone know of a supplier of the following Rivet types ?

British solid rivet SP85-505 equiv dia x 5/16len

    SP85-507 equiv dia x 5/32len
We need between 15/20,000 of these rivets to complete Bow Door, Tail cone and other bits on our Seaking restoration

They are known as Light Alloy L86 (VIOLET) rivet with Mushroom Head

I know its not Surf related ,but you guys build all sorts of creative things (like Jet Engines and stuff) and know lots of people who know a man who can !

Try here, they have always been pretty good. If they can get them and won't post i could pick them up and get them to you some how.

Having searched the links that have been posted they both list 'pop' type rivets but SP85's are solid aluminium rivets for aircraft use.
          Cheers...........

I'd have thought they would have a few bags of rivets they could give you!

                  Hi John

The only Place that i think you will get these is BAE at weybridge or Wharton as they are an Aerospace fastener . They were used extensively on the Comet and They are an Hiduminium alloy . I have Spoken To Boeng and they no longer can source them as they are not used very often these days . It could also pay you to talk to the people at Duxford as they restored the ex Dan -Air comet so they may have a source of supply The Last time I used them was on a Catalina restoration many years ago . If I can find any other info will get back to you RAF Lyneham may also have a stock . As an Afterthought Give ATC Lasham a ring they have an extensive stock and may help

                  Best of Luck

We tried that ,but we didn't want to push our luck too much, they did say that they would see what they could do !

Have you fitted your Angel eye lights yet ?

Sorry to but in, and I apologise if it's already been mentioned, but have you tried asking for leads from the workshops at RNAS Culdrose, Helston, Cornwall?

Thanx for thinking about us You are certainly welcome to but in any time ! We have a great working relationship with the guys at Culdrose and HMS Sultan, but we don't want to over stay our welcome , they have helped us source loads of bits, and have helped us with a few rivets already. the thing is we are working on a Wessex, Sycamore and yet another Whirlwind, So we are all tapping into the same resource !
I just thought I would try you guys because of all the practical doers on the site who are not afraid of challenges and always seem to know 'a man who can'
                          Thanx again m8

No worries, I'm sure someone will turn something up.

By the way, not EVERYTHING is $$$$. Just 90%! Working hard to find the 10% though...
