  • Water leak

I have changed the water coolant, thermo and rad cap (dealer parts). I have travelled for miles and miles, down to cornwell and back, then cheshire and back, no overheating problems, but the temp gauge goes up higher than it used to and every now and then i have a little pool of coolant on the drive in the morning?
    What comes around goes around!!

Have you been using the air-con?

Check along the top of the radiator for pin-hole leaks.

Your fuel pump has a weep hole that leaks when the water seal fails. this happened on my 2.4. Dropped its coolant on the drive over night out of this hole. Trouble is, its behind the cam belt cover and u gotta tek it off to see if this is the problem.

sounds like the water pump might be leaking to me. i had it it leaves a puddle about 6x6 inches on the ground. or it could be the seal of the pump.

                Think you meant Water Pump.

The weep holes in these are actually positioned outside the timing belt cover. Think about it. Why have them and then cover them up. There should be a seal around the water pump to isolate inner and outer parts of the pump. Internal leaks are usually the gasket or in severe cases corrosion of the pump body.

its only alittle pool, about 2x2, and its not all the time, only seems to be when the engine has been really hot?

You sure it's not just a bit of overflow from the expansion tank

I have a feeling it might be, but coming from the little bit of steel pipe that the expansion hose attaches to?

If you mean the short metal pipe that comes from the thermostat housing, pull off the rubber hose and make sure the metal pipe is clear. Mine was all clogged up and preventing the coolant from going back into the engine from the expansion tank as it cooled.
Also, make sure the rubber ring/gasket is OK on the rad cap and sealing against the neck of the thermostat housing.
