as far as the mot test is concerned the speedo doesnt come into it at all, mine has a piece of black electrical tape covering up the k part of kmph just leaving the mph bit lol!!
just make sure they enter the correct details on your mot ie kilometers instead of miles on the certificate...this can cause problems later in life !!Last edited by WARRIOR72; 19 October 2006, 22:09.DONT RUN WIV BIG DOGS IF U CANT PI** UP TALL TREES

You have been told wrong my friend.
It doesn't matter what type of odo you have fitted, as long as it displays MPH as well as KPH. You can have a MPH only odo, but NOT KPH only odo.
So if you get the odo face changed so that it is in MPH as the main speed with KPH on the inside in smaller numbers this is fine. Or the face dial can be in KPH as the main speed with MPH in smaller numbers on the inside, as long as it has MPH on the face it doesn't matter. The distance side of things doesn't come into it. My truck has had the face changed to MPH on outside and KPH on the inside. The odo is in KMs. The same goes for my Military defender. This has a KPH speedo with MPH on the inside. The distance is measured in KMs. As long as you tell the MOT guy that the milage is in Kms you have no problems.

They don't even look at the speedo. You can have one in metres per second if you like.

Oh brilliant!!!
They get manufactures to produce low emmision engines, 'butter us up' so we can save the planet and money with discounted road tax, then they claw the lost revenue back by increasing the MOT charges.
