        He's right...no hassles with a MAC.

So is the problem creating shares or getting the PC's to see the router?

Setting up wireless network, have done all the necessary on my desktop. When running the network wizard on my laptop I can’t get past the first bit where it asks for network name.
I may be wrong...but this bit suggests to me it is asking for the SSID, not the workgroup name!!!!!

            Gents

Thanks for replys, no problems with router, both connect to internet. I can't see either from other if you see what I mean.

If I run small office home network wizard I get as foar as asking for a floppy which is a problem as I dont have one on either PC.

The other wizard is the wireless one which works on my desktop only if I do a manual set up, but cant get pass first page on Laptop. See pic.

Don't seem to have any joy with the wizards.

Considered myself fairly computer literate but this is peeing me off.

Probably me but wished I knew what I was doing wrong.

              Anti Virus protection? Firewall?

My McAfee had to be 'told' to allow the wireless port to access the other pc, as it assumed it was an unauthorised acess attempt..
              It just does, OK?

                Chaps

Posting twice in row I know but progress.

in View workgroup computers on desktop it shows both desktop and laptop as part of the MSHOME workgroup. How did I get them here?

double click on the laptop icon on the desktop pc it says laptop not accesible.

This is probably because in the workgroup on the laptop in doesn't show the desktop as part of the work group.

How on the laptop do you add a computer to the workgroup?

                  Well

                  Got there in the end...

                  How easy can it be?

Problem one was: I wasn't selecting residential gateway for connection.
Problem two: Firewall was blocking each PC.

Took all of 5 minutes when I knew what it was I should be doing.

                  $$$$$$ computers.
