Geoff, a center diff would make matters worse in my opinion, a diff in the middle would unload power to the rears as the front lifted, leaving just the front axle spinning as it lands. Plus I doubt you would have got up that hill with the center diff unlocked anyway, so you wouldn't have much choice but to have it locked.
But anyway, you don't have the option, so don't worry about it

And yes, it was a Photoshop job, albeit a very quick one done in about half an hour at some unearthly time of the morning fuelled by Jack Daniels as far as I remember! Hence it's not entirely as convincing as it might have been!!
