  • Winch or what?

I'm about to buy a Champion winch (no, I'm not from the North East - that's who its made by...) and I'm planning to have a custom mount made by my neighbour, and fit this straight into the bolt holes in the chassis just behind the lower valance.

My question is, given I have a bar and spots fitted, will this being positioned down there have a big and nasty effect on the air flow to the rad? So - do I buy it and fit it there, fit it elsewhere, or not bother with it at all????

When you say "a champion winch", do you mean that it's a really good one??

I thought that may get lost in translation - my dad (lives in Brithdir, near Llanfyllin) couldn't understand me - made the same mistake...although, it is rather good...

Won't it be a bit of a mud wedge at that height, though?

Only if you nose dive it into the side of a ditch lol
Its actually no lower than the bash plate of a 2.4 with bottom fitted aircon rad
Only mistake I made was not to pull the cable out and hook it on the top of the A bar " you live and learn"

Mine is likely to end where that one starts..hence the worry about air flow...

Thanks Gary - my neighbour is making a kit (and chillit - yes, that's the one) and it should just bolt onto the chassis, but I'll look over the instructions and see what I could gather from them.

I'll post when I get it all done - and thats the last job (2" lift was last week)

Not so good for your approach angle though!!
