  • petrol v diesel

OK, so I'm going to buy a 3rd gen 2.7 petrol. I'm going to use it for general running around. It may, in time, pull a caravan or horse box. The petrols do seem much cheaper than than the 3.0TD.
    Am I mad?
Will I see more acceleration (from rest and in-gear) than my unbelievably slow 2nd Gen 2.4 (which is dangerously slow on motorways and pulling away)?

hi m8, you will see a diffrence in accelaration as petrol cars are more responsive to the throttle. but with a diesel you will see far more torque so would pull things better in the long run, but dont let that put you off the petrol cause iam sure that the petrol will pull a van easy enough!!!

oh and as for the 2.4s being sluggy!! this is true in comparrison to the 3litre ect... but it is the gear box that makes these engines lazy and would have been far better with a gear box thats more responsive! but ive not got my truck to race down the m1 so im happy with wot i got..
