  • Ordered the springs!

Fed up of my saggy rear!

Just spoke to the nice lady at Milners and ordered my landcruiser springs. They should be here by Monday...

I really confused her when I ordered mine - 'You've ordered LC springs, but you have a Surf?'. I did tell her that it was a straight swap and that more Surf owners would probably be doing it in the near future.

She asked me what vehicle it was for. I just said "it's OK, I know the part number I need"

I just hope you ordered STANDARD LC coils. As standard they are 180lbs, thier uprated ones are around 210lbs which will mean you have NO suspension travel. I found that with LC coils my back end was too hard anyhow but thats a matter of choice but the coils will need harder shocks as the uprated coils will be to much for soft shocks to handle

Aaargh, you have me worried now. I bought part #3784 which is described as Rear Coil Spring (pair) for a LC HDJ80.

I know I'm probably going to have to change my shocks as I think the current (adjustable) ones are on the way out... so a set of ES9000s seems to be in my near future too.

              Mine are black.
Steve, the HDJ80 springs have more 'give' in them now, (one year later, I've only done 2000kms!!!) and feel perfect together with the ES3000 dampers.

                Vince,

You must have the ONLY Surf in the UK that does LESS mileage than when it was in Japan

Well, it is only used as a second car, for camping, a dog wagon, load lugger, getting her in doors to work when the snows come, delivery wagon (cabinets and furniture) oh and of course, for posing.

Yes they are the standard ones. I am now toying with replacing the shocks at the same time (bit of extra disposable income about to appear) and figured I'd go for the 3000s. Are the longer ones available off the shelf or are they special order?

Have a hard time fitting them? Send em back and ask for standard.

And explorer have the +2" shocks normaly in stock. Just get the ones you buy in their lift kit. But....with LC coils you will only have 1.5" of down movement. Also if you let the rear axle go any further it hits the fuel tank...well a tie rod does and youll need a longer rear brake pipe fitting.

I went for the 20% stronger LC springs (the blue ones). I already had es9000's on , and in my opinion the ride is now perfect!
