d.i.y manifolds

I'm collecting the bits to put a V8 in my landy so have been investigating exhausts for mine. Have you thought of SD1 manifolds, the downpipe comes out much further towards the back than Range rover ones?

i have but its the same syndrome.the left hand fits but the right hand comes out over the steering joints.

From wot I have heard MGB V8 manifolds are the tightest to the block for down pipes .

Manifolds are tricky, I'll post a pic of my old Milner headers tomorrow, the collector needs to be crossing the block/bellhousing joint about half way down the block, and heading down to miss the bulkhead.

There really is no easy of getting round it unless you have lots of body lift and can lift the engine up. Almost all the cast manifold go straight down in the middle right on top of the Toyota engine mount.

Plus cast manifolds can't easily be welded to a steel pipe.

The DIY header kits are cheapest option, When the Milner headers where available they were about £300 and this was 10 years ago.

they are very similar to the manifolds that i have.if i could cut four hundred mm off of the depth and reweld they might fit.what i need is a tube that runs across the top of all four ports in one piece,then have the drop tube right at the back.

You need to make up a manifold similar to what this bloke has done then, right?
