      From wot I have heard MGB V8 manifolds are the tightest to the block for down pipes .

          Manifolds are tricky, I'll post a pic of my old Milner headers tomorrow, the collector needs to be crossing the block/bellhousing joint about half way down the block, and heading down to miss the bulkhead.

          There really is no easy of getting round it unless you have lots of body lift and can lift the engine up. Almost all the cast manifold go straight down in the middle right on top of the Toyota engine mount.

          Plus cast manifolds can't easily be welded to a steel pipe.

          The DIY header kits are cheapest option, When the Milner headers where available they were about £300 and this was 10 years ago.
