              [QUOTE=The Lovely Boyo]Hello, Mrs. Urf,

I admit that I might have been a little economical with the truth when discussing the SVA - I was merely making a point. I have researched this in detail, to the point where I have observed trucks going through the HGV test centre in Llantrisant.

A personal motor sale in this country is almost without any guarantee whatsoever. It is one of the riskiest ways of purchasing. Caveat emptor is the rule.

Why am I not surprised that a motor dealer should come onto this site tell the world I 'havant a clue'. You know nothing about me. However, I know that you can't spell, possibly indicating a poor education.

              Na Na N' Na Na

sva £150???? £3000 from dealer prices????only involves fog light and stick on dial ???? if only just a bit of this stament was true sorry mate but ther is a hell of a lot more to sva work than this also you forgot about modell reports ect, i do my own and it stil costs me around £350 , no more risky than personal sale ??? you got to be kidding plese dont take this the wrong way but you havant a clue

PSST BOYO !! you missed "statement" "there" "model" "etc" "still" @"please"
              NO way am i stirring
Only Toyota can get you out of shite

                Ha ha Vince,

I'll take the red one and retire 5 paces (I think that will make the obligatory 10 total).

                Oh what joy...

                  Hi Kenny

                  Just noticed you posting.

About the dealer in question. He has been around for ages under different names dealing in surfs so he should know his stuff (so why be sly).

                  Secondly

You could have a look at the trade auction that goes off at Donington airport (the SVA place)
No warranty so pays your money and makes your choice.

                  Or

Knightsbridge motors of Jacksdale have been recommended to me in the past for sales and service but I have yet to need them.

If you require my humble opinion an any potential purchase in the area just drop me a line.
I am no expert but I have owned my surf for a few years and have had to cope will the usual problems.

                  Cheers

                  Steve

                          Hi Steve,

The answer is if the dealer is straight up and on the level then he has no reason to be sly at all but I'm telling ya M8, this dealer is well dodgy - arther daley style.

No paper documents to show, no warrenty agreement to read, fumbled on his computer for 10 mins to bring up a "supposed" scan of a jap auction document and will only accept payment as cash, credit card cheque or pay pal. What this means is the buyer would have no legal protection over the transaction, its a joke.

Still I appreciate your reply M8 and the search for a Surf goes on. Was told today by a major Bristol based, BIMTA approved dealer that he no longer sells surfs as the deisel engine has been banned in Japan (erm yeah OK!). I DO NOT know if this is true or, if it is what it means here in the UK, but thats what the dealer said to me today.

                          Cheers Kenny

Yeah but if I mess up the brakes worse than I did the rear shoes, you might not open the door in time for the truck to come in!

A lot of traders dont take credit cards for the simple reason that the card company take 3-5% which if you run a low margin business means the bank make more out of a sale than the trader does.

Having SVA'd my own Surf i also think that saying you can get it done for £150 is a liitle under the mark whne you factor in the model report and the test cost plus the mods (which mayinclude removal of all after factor fittings liek Bull bars, rear mounted wheel carrier etc).

I think that its a buyersmarket at the moment and wouldnt pay above £5k for a Surf as ther are lots for sale (I guess due to fuel costs).
I bough mine from an auction house (but not at the auction) and if you go in with cash and haggel they wont let you walk away as they need to shift their stock asap. I know you dont get a warrenty but as one previous poster said if you save £2-£3k that should covber any possible issues you have
