Hi all,

Just to let you know that two weeks after I gave Ipswich Toyota a copy of my V5 and mileage they phoned me and told me that " your Surf does not come under the recall and does not need to be done ".

Has anyone else had this result?

my local stealer tried telling me that and that was after i had the go ahead from Toy/UK.You might want to get in touch with toyota uk and give them your details and see what they say.The dealers only get paid a small amout to do the recalls so some will try to fob you off by telling you you dont need it.Its up to you but its only a phone call to find out for definate

persistance pays off

Just to let everybody know....and it's only taken 4 calls and 3 mails to Toyota UK to get it!!!
today I got a call from my local dealer - the one that did my recall work aaaannnnd if I could possibly call in they now have my bottle of bubbly aaaaannnnnnd £10.00 of diesel... Result .....eventually

not a lot, Er......Friend? but I am strong on principles - if they prommise summat it has to happen!
by the way just been talking to a local lady surfer with a bugerindiddy 2.4 she only manages to get 18ish to the gallon out of hers - london and back over 2 tankfulls, ouch! and only 75 top wack , I am sooooo pleased I got a 3.0l

I emailed Toyota Europe this morning as despite Ipswich Toyota saying it was not in the recall (my chassis number IS in the range).

By 09:40 I recived this reply......

Thank you very much for your enquiry about a possible involvement of your
vehicle in the Steering Relay Rod recall.

I sent the data of your car to the related division at Toyota Motor
Corporation in Japan so that they can check whether your car is affected or not.

Got my recall next wednesday. I have a CV boot needs changing (which I'll do when I get a round tuit, but I bet they'll tell me it needs doing for safety reasons!

Got my recall next wednesday. I have a CV boot needs changing (which I'll do when I get a round tuit, but I bet they'll tell me it needs doing for safety reasons!

Had mine done yesterday. I told them that as I was an ex-mechanic and was fully familiar with the vehicle I did'nt need their guys to do a safety check.

They said it was normally a 'visual' safety check but I could sign to state I did not require it. I signed, waited 90 mins and the Surf was back in my possesion having had the recall work completed.
