Exporting Surf......HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Hello people. We are looking to move to Australia in the near future. How would I go around finding out how much it would cost to take the surf over there>?

A lot of people say it is costly trying to export a truck,,,,,,,but no body will say how much.

Most of the advise seems to be buy one when you get their, but G,H,J plate surfs/4 runners are about 5K over their!!! and alot of them are 2.4's too.

I'd love to take my moster with us........

In the USA when someone moves home, say from Florida to California for instance, they fly over and get someone to drive their car over, which is apparently cheaper than transporting it. So if your looking for A VOLUNTEER, i'm your man...cheap rates...honest..

Wouldn't it need a really tall snorkle if you're gonna drive it to Australia?

I could be wrong - you'll need to ask on the Aus Surf site, but I think they banned the importing of vehicles over a certain age (10 years IIRC). So you may not be able to take it over.

Hi just as Slugsie said you would be better asking on the ozy site there are restrictions on vehicles going from Japan to OZ so it could be the same from here. l cant remeber where l seen it but somebody was selling a type of Licence for importing into OZ and it gave you information on what vehicle you could take in and what spec,s it had to have. lf l can find it l will email it to you or post it on here.

Talk to your local Chamber of Commerce they should have an up-to-date 'Croner's Guide' that covers export ,also they should be able to help you with certificates of origin etc etc personal exporting doesn't cost much but shipping can be the main 'millstone' maybe a chat with your local import garage might help with sourcing a cheap alternative

I went there to work in 99 and a colleague who also got 'sent' over ther got her car shipped out so it must be financially viable to do it rather than buy there. Hers was a small sports thing so the cost of a big heavey surf m9igh change the economics. try googling for car shipping coompanies

My mate whom i bought my 3rd gen off has his own Concrete business. He' Emigrating to AUS & he's shipping over 2 new Concrete Mixer Trucks at £8000 a go .

You could try asking one of the importers, like Algy's Autos. They would probably know and may even be able to do a cheap deal as they have empty spaces on ships going back to Japan?

Thanks for the replies. It would need a snorkle I think becuase of the sand and dust over their, all their ones have them as standard. Another interesting thing is, all of their 4runners have AC! DOH

Still, would love to take my monster. Second option is to lose my baby and buy a 4L V6 Vigo when we get their!

All I can tell you is that I'm in NZ right now ( ) and it's surf central. Buy one when you get there, Aussies are buggers about importing anything. They're certainly cheap here....
