my mum and dad had a young kid 19/20ish move next to them and made their life absolute murder, my mums getting on a bit now and i know she"s not well so after 2 or 3 quiet words and a further 2 or 3 loud words that got us nowhere, one night 3 doormen from a club me and my bro used to go to a lot kicked his door down, and broke one of his legs and smashed his house to s""t, got back to us that someone had bunged em £500, there"s some terrible people is"nt there, but my parents were never bothered again (true story that)

i know what you mean Ian as i am seriously considering selling up next year cause i just cant stand 1 of the neighbours.he has only been there since november and already fallen out with 5 people in the other new houses and has told me i have no legal access over the drive which 2 houses use,there has been a access for my house for over 40yrs but he is such a a$$ hole i am going to sort out with planning and solicitors to open up my rear garden to put off road parking as the wifes celica has been scratched to hell by all the little toe rags that now hang around the side of my house.we cant even sit in the front room of a evening when the kids are out we have to be stuck in the dining room just so we can watch t.v

The car driving teenagers in my street get a little noisy sometimes, but other than that life here is good (touch wood). I have regular police patrols as well as serving / ex policemen for neigbours. Been here for about 30 years now and only 1 report incident (late 80's mates R5 broken into and the stereo stollen).
Perhaps there is something to be said for living next door to a military airbase

So do we! and a school accross the road with footy pitches and basketball and they'd still rather play footy in the street, Beats me, What i need is some video footage when there in full swing to show the council! Right off to bed, i've worn myself out

my neighbours are fine not a lot of probs here , oh apart from one dickhead who thinks he owns a certain car parking space(troopers parked there now lol) but thats about it.
sometimes you have to fight fire wiith fire but i would'nt advise that, sometimes it can lead to some very serious events and you could find yourself in deep sh#t
a lot of $$$$s like the ones who live near ian are basically cowards but will feel secure because of friends or family to back them up ,when my daughter was growing up a clique started picking on her , i went up the school to complain
ended up getting thrown out lol
so found out who ringleader was , knocked on her door and explained to her parents what i would do if they didnt rein there daughter in , job done !!!
but i must admit i was willing to go all the way !!! after all it was my daughter.
dont think you'll get much help from the authorities ian but keep pestering them

You have my full sympathy mate. There are a number of people who followed Thatchers dream and bought their Council Houses, only to end up trapped.
I have mentioned before that the close across the road (luckily it is about 120 yards away) has two remaining council houses. Until about three years ago they were crack houses, making it impossible for any of the neighbours to sell. Eventually the houses were raided and boarded up for six months, then a refurbishment was carried out. Things were looking up. People in the close were looking forward getting a couple of decent families moving in. What they got instead was an extended family of pikeys who had been evicted form other houses in the town.

Until about three months ago the scum were breaking anything between five and ten cars a day in the street, but that has been stopped now, although they still operate two flat bed lorries with hiabs and three flat bed transits out of the close. Their kids play out, kicking footballs against garage doors, screaming and shouting until the early hours of the morning. They keep goodness knows how many dogs out in the garden which bark all night. The two houses seem to be having a competition for who can have the loudest bass sytem. Their windows and doors are wide open 24/7 all year round. At least once a week they burn all the plastic, tyres and stuff from the cars that they can't sell.

Luckily we live a fair way from them but we are still affected by the noise and the bits of cars that are left scattered everywhere. The upshot is that there are people who live in that close that are trapped. They don't stand a chance of selling their homes with such antisocial neighbours. One has a retirement cottage in France, but cannot sell their home at any price and move there.

The house next-door-but-one to us is inhabited by god knows how many Ghanians. They have taken to collecting all the fridges, freezers, washing machines etc, that have been left out for the council to collect (probably saving the local authority a fortune in collection/disposal costs) and stacking them three high over the entire area of their back garden and any vacant garage in the block behind the house. Once a month a lorry with a huge shipping container arrives and the appliances are exported to Africa.
The local authority wheels seem to grind so slowly that nothing will be done for months, maybe years, while these $$$$$$$$s affect the quality of life of those around them.

All these horror stories make me glad to live where I do. I've lived here for 7 years now and the worst thats happened is my wing mirror was smashed the night before last, and given the time that it happened, was probably a drunk / drunks on the way home.

Yes, I got a bag of flour thrown on my truck on Halloween last year, but thats more mischief than 'bad', and I'm not so old I cant remember doing similar when I was in my mid teens.

I can see I'm very lucky to live in a road of about 40 houses, and have NO bad neighbours at all. OK, so one or two are a little 'unconventional' (The builders yard across the road, a chap with a LC80 a few doors down who seems to keep a full set of spares randomly distributed around his drive, but he's handy cos he has a great tool set, and a chap a bit further down the road who still seems to think it's the 60s and has all sorts of rainbow coloured accoutrements around the garden / windows etc) but they are all to the last, nice people.

I suppose I'm lucky enough to share a road with characters, not tw*ts, and this is reflected in the fact that if any houses come up for sale (only two in 7 years - one next door to me - Hmmmm ) they sell within weeks, at ridiculous prices!

Yes, on the whole, I think I'm lucky.

Don't just rant to the council - complain to the enviromental health, report them to health and safty, grass them up to the tax and the social - one of that lot ought to get them worried enough to do a moon light flit.

Most of the houses round here are privatly owned and the problem familys
own their houses except the one next door who rents from a private landlord,
The only council tennant in our road is as good as gold, Its been dead quiet today, A mates given me the number for the "wardens" he says they do a great job where he lives in eastney (ports), as for shopping em i told the cops there were untaxed cars parked outside, they could'nt be bothered,
They'd be all over me if i left the truck outside with no tax on it,
