General woes...

Remember me mentioning the missus trashing the suspension on her Polo, plus 1 alloy / tyre?

Well, the Polo is repaired, but VW alloys are pricey, and she needed four new tyres soon so we decided to get an aftermarket set. Looked on t'internet but decided to buy from Halfrauds (mistake number 1) because they are just down the road and *said)* they'd get em in "by thursday mate".

Here we are the following Monday and not a peep, so I rang them. Chap goes off to check and come back with "they're out of stock, but will be in in 3 weeks... or so... I think..."

After some expletives, I went to the shop to talk to the manager who'd "just nipped out (until you've left the store)" so I spoke to the duty manager. He was as dumb as a post and offered no solutions so I suggested they give me my money back as I'd paid upfront (mistake number 2). He came over all "well, we've ordered them so...". I must admit to starting to lose my cool then. I told him in a very loud voice (plenty of other customers standing around in earshot) that they were breaching trading regulations by refusing to refund me when they couldn't give provide the goods, at which point he decided that they might be able to refund me after all.

One call to Rochford tyres later, chap checks stock of wheel / tyre combo. Yes, in stock. We'll get them to you by Thursday.

I'm slowly learning, dont shop at Halfords as they are muppets.

Second woe...

My new Kumho's still haven't arrived, and on picking up the story with the Interlink chaps (who I'm on first name terms with now), they've gone no further about tracing the missing one. Something like deja-vu from last week.

"Have you got the other tyre yet?"
"No mate, it's missing innit"
"So what are you going to do?"
"Well, I could give Birmingham depot a ring"

This is what they said last week too... Seem to be going in circles.

Rang Camskill (where I bought said tyres). The chap remembered me.

"No problem mate, a replacement has been sent today, so it will be with you tomorrow"

If I get the four tyres tomorrow, I'll let you know that Camskill are good to their word. Hope they manage to hit Interlink for the cost of the lost tyre.
