  • I Have A New Truck!!!!

Ok guys. I have a new truck. I put a deposit down yesterday at the War and Peace show at Beltring, Paddock Wood in Kent.

I have been after one of these for over 10 years and have now bought one. Here is the skinny on the truck.

She is a AM General M35A2 (I can now justify my forum name)
    She has a LDT-465-1C 6lt 6cyl Turbocharged MULTIFUEL diesel engine producing 140BHP.
She is a 6x6 truck with an air shift front diff. Rear wheels driven for normal conditions.
5 speed trans with 2 speed transfer case.
    9.00x20 tyres
    Net weight 13,030Lbs
    Gross Highway weight 23,030Lbs
    Gross cross-country 18,030Lbs
    Payload Highway 10,000Lbs
    Payload cross-country 5,000Lbs
Towed Highway 10,000Lbs, cross country 6,000Lbs

She runs on diesel, petrol, avgas, paraffin and/or a mixture of all fuels (including engine oil and veg)

She does 60MPH at 2500RPM, but that's the MAX speed. She will do about 10MPG. I will go around 45MPH

She has been in storage at a dealers yard since the 1990's when he bought her from Germany on her release from uncle sams service. She is un-registered, so I have to do that. BUT, she is Tax and MOT exempt. She comes with a new cab canvas and rear load cover, troop seats, manifold heater, air shift front diff, new west coast mirrors, new windscreen glass etc, etc.

I pick her up next Friday. I can't wait. What do you guys think???

The burgundy version was a ltd edition produced after an ambush, so limited they kept washing off the claret to return it to it original and best colour - green

They say size dont matter, but the size of that thing would matter to anyone who got in its way,its still a nice toy though. When you gonna take it to uncle Tony for a bodylift? Thats if Mrs Tony lets you park it in her field.

The sight of that brings back memories of bouncing across the prairie in Canada .......... Nice one !

My mate was at W&P with his toy, an Alvis Stalwart - 6 HUGE wheels, Rolls Royce B81 engine ....... only good for 2mpg BUT it's amphibious ! Apparently it's tax and congestion charge exempt - he's thinking of driving into London and parking it on Ken ......

Life is too important to take seriously !
