                      promises of cheap chrome plating..

My tyre man has not gotten back to me yet... I did some legwork on my own and rang one of the companies he told me about ( yell.com search for electroplating).
This company does not do wheels anymore.. they still chrome plate metal bits thou...

I'm still chasing the second company.

Hey Vultch, I know a lot of companys wont touch wheels! god knows why,
My first job when i left school was at a metal finishers in ports, in the polishing shop and way back then they would'nt do wheels! they would do bl00dy great american car bumpers though and it took two blokes to hold em on the polishing mop, dont make sense!!
Mines not going at all well either, The nitromors paint stripper wont touch the laquer in fact it's not laquer, It's very similar to the finish on domestic alloy extrusion stuff like shower rails etc, I'm pretty sure it's put on electrically and it's a real ba$tard to get off, only way i've found is wet&dry paper, i tried a small aera (which has commited me to doing the whole lot) and it comes off with some rubbing so nothing for it but to get it off with 360 and work my way up (or down) grades to 1200 and then compound and finally autosol,
This is going to be sodding hard work, gonna try and get some small polishing mops for the dremmel

Oh God.. i thought there would be a nice easy solution... I have drenched them in one of the commerical alloy wheel cleaning products..all that did was remove the brake dust/crud allowing the faded finish to show through in all its glory...

It may be clear powdercoat, very hard to shift! Try fine steel wool.
