  • Split rims

Wheels turned up today, well pleased wif em, The center's are all good but the rims could do with a going over as the laquer is very slightly discolour'd,
This may sound a daft question but incase i miss something and ball's it up, im gonna do the fowowing- let the air out, undo all those millions of small bolts and the center piece comes out? apply nitromors to the rims to strip the laquer and give em a good polish, Whats the best laquer to use? the aerosol stuff or get a lt from paint shop?, Or is it a special laquer for alloy
    wheels? Anyone else done theirs?
They were four of the biggest parcels i ever received and the guy even put a
fragile sticker on each one which i thought was a nice touch, you could probabaly drop these things out of a hercules transport without damageing em too much Cheers Ian
Got my other wheels on parts for sale (when the ad appears) with the forum probs of late i should think they got enough to think about though.

Personally, I'd take them to somewhere that specialises in
blasting alloys. We have one round here, (they blasted my
fan), , and get them to do the cleaning and finishing.
    They'll then look like new.

Those are very nice wheels, BTW.

Phew!! When I saw that title, I thought this was going to be about constipation!!!!

Ahem, anyway. The centre of the wheel should come out when you remove all the bolts without deflating the tyre.
When re-laquering, you'll need heat resisting laquer, otherwise when the brakes get hot so does the alloy wheel and the laquer goes soft and dirt and brake dust sticks to it and you end up having grubby wheels again.

Sorry. B&Q sell Plasti-kote acrylic lacquer which has a temp rating of
                approximately 150 degrees.About six quid a tin, I think.
