my holliday in a land rover next week

im off to sunny cornwall next friday (well early saturday morning) and my boss has given me his week old range rover sport overfinch to go in
its the supercharged petrol version with the £5k engine pack
22" alloys with low profile tyres my question is this (and im serious!!)
would you take it on the beach?
by that question i meen will it perform like a 4x4 or like a sports car cos i do a bit of fishing and dont want to walk far

but to answer the Q....why not take it on the beach? who'll have to pay for it when it goes wrong?

plus you've got the argument of "well, my old surf wouldn't have died so easily boss! who'd have thought a top of the range motor like that couldn't compare to an old surf eh?"

join the rac, i've been pulled off the beach before by one of their contractors (not in a Surf... was a volvo so probably weighed the same as a RR though)

and i never got the bill.

either that or persuade the boss he really wants a winch, they make great frond end protection by the way.


....If it can't cope with a bit of sand why don't they advertise it parked on the yellow zig-zags 10 ft from the school gates??

im sure it will be fine popping onto the beach and back as long as you dont try and be silly
id want to give that back cleaner than when i got it! sounds like your boss is a nice guy? (or he wants you to run the engine in )

Wasn't that the one that Clarkson raced against a tank on Salisbury plain. Should cope with a beach easily (as long as you avoid the quicksand)

i also will be traveling at the same time ish, off down to hayle but nobody wants to lend me there new la** ***** so i will be going in the surf dont forget to giv us a wave!!!

the last thing i want is a nice picture in the local or national press with me crying at the side of his new toy
its ex demo so it had 3k on the clock when he got it its the one on the overfinch website (graphite grey )and was at the show in docklands a couple of weeks ago
he tells me he actually bought it a month ago but they needed it for promotion so he got £10k knocked off the price
when we went to ascot in it last week it returned 14 mpg but that was in sport mode doing 95 ish (on a private runway lol)
so im hoping to get 18s cruising at 75 down to sunny cornwall
i also have the fuel card and i dare not even imagine what fuel i will use
so lets have a bit of fun

i recon £450

sounds about right, i will be traveling to hayle about 400 miles, then to coverack bridges half a dozen times to see the sister, so i rekon about 1000 miles in all. @ about 20 miles to the gallon, about £250 for me !!!!

Does your boss drive fast?? Would he notice if you swapped engines? you'd be doing him and you a favour, saving him money on fuel bills, and you having an awesome sounding Surf!
