  • Looking for sympathy, oh and a new truck

    Hi
A week last sat'day my precious Surf was written off by a drunken driver who piled into the back of it at high speed after a day on the lash!
The truck was shoved forward at least 12 ft and into the back of my other car.
You can imagine the speed he must have been travelling when I tell you the back end and side doors of the truck were completely buckled by a Citreon AX!

Needless to say I am gutted, only bought it 4 months ago and after teething troubles with radiator and electric back window it seemed to be behaving.

Oh yeh, apparently he didn't see it even though it was parked on the side of the road under a street light-mind you Surfs are only tiny aren't they........?

Have been contemplating getting a sensible car if the insurance pays up but think it's gonna have to be another surf...I've been bitten by the bug!

Is this a wind up? A $$$$ron AX is half plastic, for it to "damage" a surf the driver must be dead for sure?
I used to have a surf me!

            No wind up

            Thanks for your comments-all.

The driver survived and even tried to get back in and drive AX away with no front left on it.

He broke six ribs and punctured a lung and his wife is currently wearing a cage around her head to hold it together.

If they hadn't both been so p****d they probably would have died, the scene outside my house was carnage-blood n gore everywhere

4 Surfs in the local paper this week AAARGH!!! Roll on the insurance claim!

it's these sort of fcukers that get away without a scratch and probably not alot done to their license either, small ban, small fine, maybe a bit of community service thats it.

if they cant see a surf, they sure as hell wouldn't have seen a person, and if they had hit a person, would have driven off.

they should all be charged with attempted murder when they DD. simple as, no excuses, and why is there a DD limit? what semi sensible person sees a point to a DD limit, absolute zero tolerance on this is what should be in place, and anyone who disagrees, go talk to someone who has lost a kid or a friend to someone that only had 2 pints, it does make a huge difference, even if you can't tell yourself.

                rant over.

sorry to here about your surf, chap. get that 1st gen off ebay, that colour, anyone will see it!!!
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

Don't apologise for the ranting-i totally agree!

I was lucky to have not been in the truck when it was hit and the driver was lucky that no-one was walking along the road as they often do.

I've always disagreed with DDs but even more so now.....

Full sympathies here Cathy. It's not funny when you have a parked vehicle written off by a drunk. The guy who drove into my parked transit at 45MPH tried to say I reversed into him and did a runner.

Hope you get fixed up really soon and don't let the insurance try to fob you off with their first offer. There are a few people on here in the insurance biz who can advise.
                      It's only a hobby!

                          Thanks for the advice.
Great response from this site - loads of useful info and advice.
I was in the house watching Rio Ferdinands World Cup Wind Ups when I heard the crash! Surreal or what!
Wondering what he might make up to avoid paying up but as he admitted he'd been drinking to police I'm hoping things may not be too complex but you never know.

i'd have called the cops and left them waiting for an ambulance for when the police called one.

                              nasty - yes.

                              deserved - i believe so.

anyway good luck with the claim and now that you've looked on here you may be able to select an even better deal for yourself in the long run.
