I`ve got my surf back after being in the garage for 2 weeks having a new head fitted and a new heater matrix fitted for £350 quid.
It seems to have quite a bit more lower gear power now.
Had him change the transmission fluid at the same time, i did not realise that you had to check the levels whilst the engine is ticking over, i always checked it from cold so the transmission fluid must have always been low, the engine is so much quieter now and the gear changes are so smooth.
I dont want to risk cracking another head towing the caravan again and i`ve had a good read through a lot of posts on towing, but i would like to know, is it ok to leave the ect power on all of the time when towing or will it increase engine temperature???
I didnt realise how much i enjoyed driving the surf, havnt stopped grinning since i got it back
