  • ssr-g, ssr-x, what's the difference pls?

    hi crew

i'm really enjoying rolling around in my surf, love it...just a few questions, i would like to know for my own information that's all

    1. please can anyone tell me the difference between the ssr-g and ssr-x, i see the letters written around but don't know what they mean

    2. also, names like 'urban sporty' - what does that mean? is it a trim level or something like that?

    3. last of all - does anyone have a bonnet emblem like this?

very very last thing - i;ve seen so many surfs around over the easter hols in newquay - perhaps a lot of people with surfs visited, or there is a factory making them just down the road in camborne?
    problems? i'll take 'em.

If you have a look around the forum you'll find the SSR-X, SSR-G question has been asked a number of times before, but its one of those questions thats almost impossible to answer.

Many sites such as the one linked above (http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/toyota/hilux_surf/) contain errors, for example it lists some 1993 models as having dual airbags, which they certainly did not.

Taken from the FAQ at EmptyEarth
The Surf comes in a number of different trim levels, ranging from SSR, SSR LTD, SSR-V & SSR-X to SSR-G. Additionally some SSR-V’s and X’s have had the ‘Ltd’ badge as well. In theory it runs from the base spec SSR to the SSR-G or Gold spec model. In practice these designations do not necessarily mean much. Many will have had a number of factory fitted options supplied from new, with the result that it would not be impossible to find for example an SSR-V with a higher level of options/trim than an SSR-X, or an SSR-X in seemingly identical spec to an SSR-G.
Despite the efforts of many who have tried, it does not seem possible to compile a definitive listing as to the standard specifications of the various trim levels.
