insurance for a Toyoa pick-up

I've just had a mate ring me wanting to know if anyone who has a pick-up if it has to be insured for commercial use as his insurerd a told him that is the only way of insuring it.Does anyone know of a insurance company that will insure one for S.D.P use and not commercial use.He wants to use it occassionally for going out shooting but not extreme off-roading any help is apprecciated

you can get private insurance for pick ups through norwich union direct, i had my old pick up insured through them on a van private policy and was only using it to sling bikes in the back

Thanks Logey. I rang Adrian Flux and they said the same as you as long as he isnt using it for work (which he wont be as he is a railway maintenance contractor) and they will insure him for private use too.It's just his insurer at the mo is wanting more cash off of him and being awkward

ah! they are all c.rap! they'll help you for the first year to get your custom, but after that forget it. norwich were excellent for that year i had the pick up and when iwanted switch to the surf i got all sorts of nonsense pushed my way, including premium increase, so i switched it to these guys on here (in the home ad thingy bit, can't remember the name now-lifesure, thats them) and was chuffed.....but wait til renewal time, hopefully they will be good, i'd like to think so as so far they have been the best i've ever dealt with, including commercial insurance.

coming up to my renewl with lifesure for the 2nd time they have been good for the last 2 yrs and the quote they gave me for the 3lt was very good too.had to pay an extra £32 to insure the 3lt so i think it will be 3rd running with them

good to know. means i won'tbe swearing down the phone at people when it comes to renewals time. i absolutely detest dealing with insurance company's, probably due to the fact that through the taxi policies that me and my dad have had with them have totalled somewhere in the region of £22,000 in the past 5 years alone. WITH FULL NCD ON ALL OUR CABS!!!!

I was just wonderin', correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't 1st gens basically two door pick-ups with a detatchable rear cover? If this is the case, you should be able to insure pick-ups on SDP insurance.
