does an exhaust have to be complete for an mot
as i have damaged mine on the last run i chopped it off where it exits the middle box, does anyone know if this equals an mot failure, as i see it it functions correctlly, its still quiet and the remaining bit is sound, it just doesn't let the fumes leave the underside of the vehicle propley.
    any ideas

As far as I understand it as long as the exhaust exits the vehicle rear most of the rear door it can pass . IE the exhaust must leave at a point farthest back from any door opening and protrude past the bodywork to prevent fumes entering the vehicle from underside or being drawn in to the vehicle by recirculing air .
If you understand that I will be amazed , and I wrote it !!

Unlike motorcycles, car exhausts are an open issue at MOT time as long as it dont leak exept where you decide the end is thats OK for VOSA even if it blows out the window. It'l pass.
