  • Speakers ?

Hi, I've a question about my rear speakers!, The original ones are located on
each side above the wheel arch and are fixed into "plastic boxes with what
i assume are amplifiers in each one, The speakers are 4" and look tatty and
they are marked 30watt, My question is can i replace them with panasonic
130watt (180watt max) oval ones by building a box of some sort onto the
plastic one's and extending the wires or will i blow something, I've refitted the side panels and cut out the speaker grills in them ready to take the
boxes, Thanks for any info Ian

Also note, the amplifier is amplifying an amplified signal (adding insult to injury)... so you may want to consider bypassing the amp in the enclosures. You can then cut the nose off the plastic enclosure and some better quality 5 1/4" speakers will fit in there quite nicely. As long and you get a good seal to the enclosure, you'll get a nice sound out of it...

Try this for size, but you'll have to be quick.

for those that might be interested, while we're on the subject of speakers, I came across this site earlier today

                              http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2Xe7Rwk...0&I=044K400287

                              edit

cheaper here and other cool stuff too
                              http://www.cardomain.com/item/QLCQLK4002B54

they sell moulded kickpanels for the front, allowing you to mount some hefty speakers by yer feet properly!

i'm definitely considering it... it's got to be a better option than hacking around at the door trim?

/me idly wonders how much international shipping will be

2nd edit - neither of them ship to the UK. right, I'm going to have a word with one of the sales guys in our US office and get them to buy them for me anyone else interested?

                              $140 = £80 or so.
