Help! What to look for when buying a hi lux

I am going to look at a couple of Hiliux Double cab pick ups this weekend. Can anyone tell me what to look out for? Problem areas etc. i have had LandRovers in the past which i know loads about, but the Hilux i know nothing.

How long do the Diesels last??

The pick ups i am looking at are 2.4 diesel and aged around 94-96.

Like any vehicle just a good check over . Oil leaks , coolant leaks etc . Excesive smoke from exhaust .Engines are good as long as services are up to date with regular oil changes . Pick ups are usualy work horses so rear bed can be damaged from loading . Corrosion is a big thing in the rear bed to . Rear panel and wheel arches rot outwards .
