  • Tyre size for pickup!!! Help!!!

    Hi,
I'm not a surfer but you lot seem to know your stuff. I'm about to give my Mk4 hilux pickup a 2" suspension lift. At the moment I run on 31/10.5/15 with not so good tyres. I've just bought some 16" rims and I want to get hold of some BFG A/T's. Whats the biggest I can go, I realise I probably cant go bigger in diameter, but can I get more width? Say 275/70/16 The rims are only 7" wide can they accommadate such a wide tyre? Thanks for any help!

275/70 are 30x10.5" which should easily go on, try 275/75 which will be 31.5x10.5" if you want taller.

Any wider will need technically need wider rims, but you will probably get 11.5" wide tyre on a 7" rim OK.

10.5" wide tyres are listed for 8" rims, but everyone fits them on 7" Toyota alloys (including Toyota! )

      Thanks for your advice.

I just spoke to a tyre supplier and he said 275/70/16 would be too tight. I'm confused. Any thoughts

275x70R16 is 31.1x10.8" which is virtually what you have on the truck already (31x10.5"). So you know it fits.

I've just ordered them for £100 a piece including delivery, thought that was quite good. Thanks tony.
