Avatar issues?

I haven't been around the forum for a few weeks, but it would seem my avatar has been replaced with an 8-ball. And I can't find the option to add my original back in - there's only 6 avatars displayed in the profile/avatar section, and no option to upload a custom one. Has something changed or is there a problem?
