uploading pics/attachments

We are having a few problems with the uploading of the pics (me included) I have found if the file is to large it times out and you get the error page.
It seems at the moment that as long as the file is blow about 160kb then it uploads fine any larger and it times out.
We are trying to sort it so bear with us.
