  • Can I make a difference ?

Can Mr Average make his voice heard ?
One voice doesn't stand a hope of being heard .
The thing is I'm sure plenty of people in the UK share my views on 4x4 and greenlane etc.
As it stands , shortly we will all lose any access to these former highways.
Is it too late to stand up for our rights ?
I've stood by ( signed the odd petition etc ) thinking I could do nothing . I haven't any easy solutions , I don't know enough about computers to set up a website to fight these faceless people who are eroding my rights. My eyes glaze over when I see the gobbledygook they phrase their legislation in. I'm not rich enough to set up a lobby group .
I do however care about losing a pleasure as simple as driving in isolated countryside with a couple of friends.
I don't want to deprive anyone of their share of the countryside .
We only had rights on a tiny minority of highways and we shared this with other users.
I wasn't hurting anyone or damaging the enviroment , yet I'm the bad guy .
The revenue from my vehicle and it's use contributed to the national revenue and business and tourist communities have benefited from my business.
However did Great Britain end up like this?
Is there enough togetherness in the 4x4 community to unite behind this cause . Can we make ourselves heard ???
    Your sadly

What amazes me is that the ramblers pushed to get us off the lanes, just as they were getting access to much more countryside than was available before. It seems to me that this government will give in to selfish pressure groups who want to protect their interests and sod everyone else.

The only way we could hope to win is if we had the sheer numbers that the ramblers have.

Now we cant go on the lanes at breakneck speed, mow down ramblers and frighten the horses, we might as well take our bull bars off.

On the positve side. I have been making sure that my local MP reads the pro laning sites, as well as the anti and testing him to make sure that he is working hard for my vote next time.
      It's only a hobby!

Speaking like that the thought police will be visiting later

It would be a lovely idea but you would have to get all off roading groups to work as one ..........and we all know how aloof landy owners are

Not at all. Lots of support from Landy users for LARA and GLASS (have a look at thier web sites).

Thing is the law has now passed the commons, and passed the lords, and been returned for assent. so whilst you should never give up we are on the latish side here. anyway get on the net - plenty of people have already set up websites, and got suggestions of what to write to your MP.

But also right now you should visit your favorite lanes if they are RUPPS or dual status. take a photo and say 'bye.

            Dave.

Whether Mr/Ms Average tries to get their voice heard or not, you can bet Mr/Ms Extremist will, so never be afraid to state your feelings. The politicians' job is to keep as many people happy as possible so they get re-elected.

Telling them that you don't like their decisions may force them to listen more carefully in future.

Just a personal opinion, but I think the Government has shot itsself in the foot with this, the real problem IMO has been with illeagle cars and motorbikes using bridleways and footpaths along with rupps and boats, this won't stop with this law, and while responcible people are abiding by the law of the land,
the lane and footpaths will become the playground of the law breakers, and who's going to catch them? Not the police around my area!

It will just lead to people removing their numberplates or covering them with mud and just riding/driving where they want legaly or not.
