  • Roof bars

    HI folks,

Have any of you fitted roof bars to your 2nd gen surf.
I have saw ones in 4x4 accessories and tyres catalogue, they are IRONFLY roof bars that require no removel of the headlining from inside the truck. They say drilling of the roof is required so i assume it is fixed with a few self tappers. They are price at £89 + vat.

If you have fitted them , are they ok?
    do they take much weight?
are there any alternativves to these?

    Thank for any help guys

    roof bars

I have seen these so called universal fit bars fitted to the depressions
in the roof both bolt through and self tap and both vehicles have deformed roofs I was thinking about using them myself and when a
land cruiser turned up a one our local scrap yards I went to buy the roof rails when the headliner was removed I found that the roof is reinforced
to take the wheight. the problem is not in the wheight its when you
corner with the wheight the rails roll from side to side and deforms the roof. I know they are not pretty but I opted for hopkirk bars instead
    they will take 75kgs.
