265x70x15 or 31x10.5x15??

  • 265x70x15 or 31x10.5x15??

    I have 265x70x15 on my 2.4 and am thinking of changing to 31x10.5x15 what are the benefits/drawbacks to changing...anyone done this and can you point me in the right direction...Cheers...

    265/70 are about 30x10.5" 31's are...well 31"

    So about 1" different in dia is the difference.

      Cheers..just confused there!!! but i cant see 1" making any difference..think its the 31" then...

        31s it should be, they fit without a lift, fill out the arches a bit better and more importantly give you 1 inch extra ground clearance and therfore better approach, departure and breakover angles.

                      I think you will find particularly on Mud Terrain tyres that the chunky tread depth is actually additional to the specified tyre diameter. So go for an agressive tyre with 25mm deep tread and they're much bigger! Until they wear down- then you're back down to a mere 31" !
