  • exhaust bore, spare pipe anyone?

My car is STILL in with the MOT garage. they seemed confident it could be finished today but, no. They cant find a piece of pipe with the right bore to replace the back section of tail pipe. I told them to chop out the kinked bit and shove some flexy hose on.

BUT, they cant seem to find the right size.

anyone got any answers to this one?

Any motor factors near you? They'll have sections of exhast pipe.
Just measure the external diameter of your exhaust and get a piece to slide over it.
Sounds like the MOT garage is being a bit petty/stupid. Tell 'em I said that, I'm not bothered!

Make sure any flexi pipe you get can handle the heat!!! The bit I got to do something similar on my truck wasn't up to the job, and it ended up spewing hot exhaust gases onto my wiring loom! Not good... Ended up melting the fuel sender wires, and also my hard/soft suspension wiring by the rear offside wheel.

A new exhaust, from Roughtrax, a bit of re-wiring, and all's ok now...
      It just does, OK?

I have absolutely no idea where the best/nearest motor factors shop is to me.
since i moved south, I almost always in the past took my car up to derbyshire for fixing ( combined with visits to my family) but since ive had this surf Ive avoided driving up there because its a £60 round trip minimum, or two hours labour down here...
I know of: kwik fit ( avoid) : national tyres/exhausts (avoid) : a small place like an aladins cave specialises in bits for jap cars in croydon but cant imagine they would have any exhaust pipes or pieces of :

but while they have my car.. I do have new motorbike (8 miles on the clock) to ride around on in the fffffreeeezng cold, so i can at least go places quickly and fetch and carry small things. such as pieces of exhaust!

Im familiar with the exhaust heat doing damage, the one on my jeep had a big hole smashed in the top of the main silencer part, the heat that came out that boiled up my brake hose lines and i ended up with not a lot of braking power...

wheres basildon in relation to croydon? all i can think of is basildon bond (russle abbott) in a wet suit with enormous flippers... sorry, i have an overactive imagination.

I need a section from the middle box backwards, sounds the same as you.. im still waiting for the garage to get back to me on whether they have found anything yet.

                      Topical Dave, like it!

I've got bits of old exhausts I've kept as emergancy spares. Can cut you out the chunk you need Jayne. But I'm not very local.

About time you got that munched exhaust fixed though, it was like that when your truck came to visit me!
