  • Update on Sick Surf

Well, I've visited the garage where the surf has been laid to rest, and they have had some of the quotes back for parts, etc.... The engineer has told me he will be reccommending it to the insurance company as a write off.

I have spoken to the insurance company, and they are not sending an assessor down to view the vehicle, they take the word and photo evidence (with quotes) from the engineer.

So if there is no assessor going to view it, what happens now?????

So far, I've managed to get the dvd/stereo out, the tow bar, wheel cover, tool set and floor mats, basically just things I can pick up.

Who decides where it goes next????. Its been put under cover, and when I asked why, he said, "all the decent salvage goes under cover", so that tells you something

I'd rather have it meself and sell it to those who want it.....

The engine must be worth a tidy sum alone

I'd talk to the insurance company again. They should be able to give you a price if you want to buy it.

If life's an uphill struggle then downhill from now on can't be that bad?!

Not sure , but I think it depends on what category of write-off it is i.e. if it is deemed not fit to be put back on the road you would need a special licence to buy it.
