1]What wheel rim size do I need for a 31x10.5x15 tyre
is it a 15x8 or would a 15x7 be enough ?

2]Also what rim size do i need for a 265/70x16 tyre ?
is it 16x8 or ????

3]Does a 265/70x16 have a over all diameter roughly the same as a
31x10.5x15

4] any nown problems with this size on a standard [ as far as i know 3rd gen surf ]

Both types should fit on a 7" wheel rim size. Don't think there are any know problems.

31x10.5x15 I replaced 265/70/R15 with 31x10.50xR15, only bout 6mm difference, and they fitted my 2nd gen no probs (before its lift)

4] any nown problems with this size on a standard [ as far as i know 3rd gen surf ]

265/70x16 roughly equates to 30.6x10.43x16 or near as dammit to the 31x10.5x15

As you have a 3rd Gen the 265/70R16 should be your standard OE fitment.

fine now, actually I think it may have been a proxy (poxy) server problem on my end, I'm in work and our systems are managed by EDS, useless at the best of times!!

No your alright Morr, it was some file permissions problems on the Server, sorted it out now working OK.
