Looking at getting a second vehicle for playing and such. Seen a cheap alternative brand vehicle on good old Flea bay near me, but owner is complaining of excessive smoking on a diesel. He states that the timing has been checked and is fine, it is the diesel pump. Is this possible, should I not even bother thinking about it. It has other faults listed but he has new parts for these, which just need fitting.
Any advise please.

A deisel pump isn't a normally cheap or easy thing to fix, unless you can a used one pretty easily.

Depends on the smoke, could be other issues.
