seen a 2.4 td advertised on auction never meet reserve ,i can get it for 2k,on a j reg great condition 70000 miles ,recaro seats ect,but no service history (help )im so tempted

Well you're not really giving us a lot to go on, a link to the auction would help.

Also consider looking in the vehicles for sale section on the forum, you've a better chance of getting a vehicle with some recent known history. Those on auction may well be there for a reason, ie may not stand up to the closer scrutiny of a conventional sale, or may have failed to sell in the normal manner.
