Unless you go to a toyota dealer (and you have to sell it to them as a 4runner useless a*seh*les) i think your stuck. I use a garage just outside Belfast which i've found very helpful and reasonable, where are you?

If you do find a garage with an ex toyota mechanic or whatever i'd be interested.

Think theres also 4x4 specialists in yella pages too.

The answer is, NO!

I am from Co. Down and have NOT found anyone that I trust to do anything major to my Surf!

What I do is ship her across to a mate of mine in Scotland who does the servicing and MOT's etc.

It is just as economical as the MOT here in N.I. is a pain in the arse, (as I'm sure you well know!).

£133.00 on the boat and £30.00 for the MOT!

(It never fails the MOT!)

He drives a 3.0 4 Runner and is totally brilliant with the Surf!

The Garage is called AUTOMEC and is located in Bo'ness about 1 1/2 hours from Troon!

He currently has a client base of 9 Surfs and 3 4 Runners!

Ring him for an enquiry (his name is HAMISH), tell him Gary gave you his number and see how enthusiastic he is about Surfs!

The thing is, he seems to really "care" about the vehicle and I find that a real breath of fresh air nowadays!

The problem I had was no matter who I asked over here to do the servicing all said "yup, no problems" but none of them even knew what the hell the vehicle was!

"Bugger that!"

They all will say they can do it but I would rather have someone with Surf experience under the bonnet!

Forget the Toyota main dealers, unless you are a millionaire!

Since posting the thread i have found a one man band in portstewart that does all the local 4 X 4s for the lacal farmers . he has my baby at the moment will let you know the outcome .
