    I've been on a few trips of one sort and another and have taken various tools and spares that I've never needed - I have broken down but the problem was always something I haden't coverd so now all I carry is the following;

    Gaffa tape
    Wire
    Mole wrench
    Srewdriver

    And for when that won't fix it;

    Credit Card

    Your Surfs a good truck, look after it; don't ignor little noises or minor faults and I'n sure you'll be fine.

        There are hundreds of people who have driven around the world in a hilux so search the internet and study all the trip reports. Depends where you are going. Breakdown cover aint gonna help in Africa or Siberia! Toyota spares are available in the remotest parts of the world (mainly hilux though) and lots of cash in different currencies will sought that out. (Dont rely on credit/cash cards.) Cash will also get you out of some dangerous situations and make border crossings quicker!
        Carry consumable spares like belts, hoses & lubricants, nuts and bolts. The best of all of course as mentioned earlier- gaffa tape, wire and vice-grips.
        cheers,
        Powered by Toyota!

                  might not seem like you're getting much for the money... but the info is invaluable and it costs money for server space to keep it all!

                  and people are nicer to you!

                        spent 6months driving the aussie outback and covered 13,500miles round aus using road & off road and the most essentials are:-

                        Food (7days)
                        Water for u and your surf (u 7days)

                        engine and gear oil
                        electrical wire
                        duck/gaffa tape (can even make a fan belf with)
                        spare fuel (enough for 200 to 300 miles)
                        soap (not for washing but fuel tank repaires)
                        coarse ground black pepper (rad leaks)
                        maps
                        money

                        Tips
                        never let ur fuel get below 1/2 a tank,
                        top up b4 if poss as u may not always get fuel at every town (some run out) so u need enough in resurve to get to the next.
                        Dont reley on your spare fuel as u may need it depending how off the beaten track u go.
                        Always check you oil and water b4 each journey.
                        Have fun !!!!!!
