  • Troublesome suzuki

    Hi All,

The Wifes Suzuki is being a very naughty car.

When engine is running, the interior and head lights etc all flicker, and when engine is off they are fine.
Only being a novice car mechanic type person, I`m assuming this could be either battery or alternator playing up.

Also when the engine is running the horn doesn't work, and when engine switched off, it does work!! Help!!

Would appreciate some pointing in the right direction.

    Ta much.

    Darren

Check your earths are clean, on the battery to body, alternator and such like, this might cure the problem.

sounds like toad is right, poor earthing causes all sorts of weird probs,
        good luck sorting it

a quick test is to get a jump lead and link the earth terminal of the battery to the chassis and or engine block and then go trough the senarios
Surf.gone but not forgottendisco now gone aswell

Another strange quirk with the Suzukis are that on some circuits they switch the negative lead and not the positive.

I would agree with checking the earths as a first step and even beefing some of them up with thicker straps. The spark don't half improve if you replace the one from the distributer to the body.
          It's only a hobby!
