they're yellow circular plates, about 8" round

nobody's mentioned the M25 camera's yet.
on the variable speed gantry's no yellow plates, some have cameras and some don't, if you look after you're passed, you'll see 3 gatso's on the back of the gantry.

That they are NOT there or they ARE there?

If they are there on the sretch i mentioned then they are either well hidden or they are so small they are invisible to the naked eye.

I dont object to the cameras but they should be a deterent and not a trap therefore any speed cameras should be clearly visible.

not all cameras are marked with yellow markers. gatso can be staggered across a set distance some take picture & time you between them if you speed youre nicked

The Highways Agency has installed new signs between J 12 and J 14 of the M4 as part of a year long pilot project to reduce congestion and collisions. The signs have two CCTV cameras. One which monitors the sign itself to make sure its working and displaying the right message; and another to monitor the congestion to evaluate the effect the sign is having on the traffic.

There are NO speed cameras and NO SPECS cameras in the signs!

The only involvement Thames Valley Police has is to change the messages on the signs according to the conditions to give up-to-date information. This is done via our control room. The signs are owned by the Highways Agency.

To be honest the installation of cameras don't bother me as I am happy to chug along at 60-70mph (100-110kmh) in my Surf.

Its just that I would prefer them to be clearly visible to STOP the speeding. It's too late when some tear a**e has caused an accident, and miles of tailbacks.
