i know this might sound really thick but how do you get at ur spare wheel on 91 model surf estate,do you get to it from underneath the back of the jeep or do you lift the carpet up in the back and get to it from there.

Theres a hole in the rear bumper, that you insert the long bar from under the rear seats and wind it down.

OK, lift up your rear seat, underneath should be a jack and a long bar with a hook at one end. This hook will fit in the jack to let wind it up, it also goes in the slot in the middle of the rear bumper, feed the bar though the hole untill it locates in the wheel winch mech. You should also have a tool roll in one of the load area side pockets, in here should be a handle that fits over the end of the long bar so you can wind it up and down easily.

There is a sticker normally on the rear bumper that shows you how to stick the bar in bumper, on some truck it goes in straight and other it goes in at 45 deg to near the chassis rail. If the sticker is gone, have a look under the car to see where it goes.

p.s to get the base of your rear seats up you have to put your hand down the back find a little pull flap which relaeses seat locks then fold base forward
to access bars . pps under here is also a small panel under which is your bottle jack to lift car .
