  • Nigerian Buyer of my auction on eBay.??

Right guys i have sold a mobile phone this morning via a buy it now price on eBay in which i did not know it was a Nigerian buyer untill they contacted me.!!

He/She has said that they will pay money directly into my bank account in which i have REFUSED.!!! (NO.!!!!!)so He/She said that they will send me a UK Postal Order but i still REFUSED.!!

I have asked them to send me Great British Pounds Sterling via Special Delivery as i would prefer cash, but on the other hand could be counterfit but at least if it was i could easily get rid of it.!! where as postal orders could be counterfit which could bounce once paid into my bank.!!

Is there anything else i need to know about before sending the phone after receiving payment.??

    What would you all do.??

    Please advise.!!

Get them to pay by PayPal. It's instant and dead easy to set up an account.

Why would he want your bank details????????????
It must be a b****y good phone to go through all that trouble.
Opening a Paypal account only takes minutes. Tell him Pay through paypal or no phone.

I take you've already emailed him back? Nigeria & Russia are 2 of the countries involved in massive amounts of internet fraud. What sort of feedback does the buyer have? Has he been buying lots of cheap ebooks, or small items? Scammers usually buy a lot of ebooks cheaply to improve feedback ratings. They also use other peoples email addresses to send Trojan Horses, Worm Viruses, etc. Hence me asking if you had replied to his email? I would be inclined to proceed with caution. Try to email him from an easily changeable email address like Yahoo, MSN, etc.

Wait until payment is received, cleared and you have the cash in your hands before posting the phone.

Saying that, I'm sure there are some Nigerian Ebayers who are completely legit. Its a percentages thing.

            Just be careful.

I had the exact same scenario about 6 mths ago when I sold a motorola mobile for £110.00 slightly different story but same idea ie it was for their son. When I started asking questions about paypal etc they stopped contacting me. Wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. Contact egay and let them know hopefully you will get a refund on your costings.

                    Re

TELL THEM TO "FECK OFF" NOW!

                    HAVE NO DEALINGS AT ALL!

                    DO NOT REPLY TO EMAIL!

                    DO NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THEM!

Bank transfers are a classic way for them to gain your bank details.

THEY ARE RUTHLESS AND WILL DO ALL THEY CAN TO GET YOUR MONEY!

PLEASE, IGNORE THEM AND THEIR SAD STORIES, THEY ARE NOT TRUE!

                    Later!

He/She has now re-emailed me through eBay to state that they will only send a Postal Order for the amount.?? do you think it still could be dodgy by receiving a dodgy postal order.??

Does this happen with postal orders does anyone know.??

If so how long shall i leave it in the bank before i should let it clear and send the phone.??

                            please advise..??

Walk Away, File a Mutual cancellation request with Ebay and relist it to UK bidders only.

Better to be safe than sorry. You may be losing more than just a phone. They are very clever.
