Someone selling MY website on ebay!!!!

No, I have never sold my website or anything from it.

If someone was selling the manual/epc stuff (even if it was downloaded from my site) I wouldn't have a problem - I don't own the copyright and it probably shouldn't even me on the site from a legal standpoint. However, it looks like the contents of this CD are *JUST* my entire website (including the manual) downloaded and converted to PDF. This I have a problem with.

The guy has not really sold many and he does not get more than 2 or 3 quid for them but its still well out of order.

The Cd i have IS your website. I found the link to the EPC on your website as a result of the disk i was sent.

When i put the CD into the computer it brings up your homepage allows me to navigate your site without having to be connected to the net.

I will find the paperwork form the ebay purchase and scan it in and post it on here. I remember when I bought it the guy had loads of feedback from selling the cd. Thats why i bought it.

Looks like all of his auctions have now been cancelled.

If he lists again, a good way to stop him is to bid £1,000,000 for the items. If more than one peorson does it, he will soon get the hint.

I have seen it work in the past.

I have an ebay account which I don't really use, so don't mind getting the odd negative feedback on it.

Yeah, a good sign I suppose (perhaps ebay have suspended while investigating?), although as I said that happened a few days ago and he was soon back on selling it again.

Just sent the thief an email, as follows:

"What format is the information in, ie: Word, PDF etc.
Is the disc an original or a copy, do you have the owners permission if a copy."

Why not bid £1,000,000 every time it gets listed or get everyone from the forum to send a complaint to ebay?

Hmmm, not sure this guy knows anything about copyright law! Its not like a trademark or a patent where you have to register copyright and get a number! Jeez, looks like he really does not care that he is ripping off my site.

Like I said before, you own the copyright.

The way I see it, you have two choices.

1) You might be annoyed, but not that bothered, in which case you will just let it go and let him sell your materiel.

2) You have to make a stand regardless of how much money this guy is making, as it's your work, you own the copyright, and he shouldn't be able to get away with it.

I think you have given this guy enough chances. Time to contact a copyright specialist lawer and let him sort it out.

Got an answer to my email,
He told me that the format is PDF, that can be obtained from Adobe (Suprised he isn't flogging Adobe Reader also!).
But hasn't answered whether the disc is a copy or original, or if he has owners permission .

So have asked him again.

well basically he has now told me for **** right off - o.k. so he didn't swear at me but thats basically the jist of it - he is not going to stop selling this item. If ebay don't do anything I will get a solicitor involved - it may be a petty offence but the guy has annoyed me that much that I am willing to take it further.
