  • Surfing In Ipswich

    Hi all,

Just wondered if there are any Surf owners in the Ipswich, Suffolk area?

I am thinking, NO, I WANT a Surf this year, would like a 3.0 but don't/can't justify spending toooooo much on it. (£3000 ish).

Just need some pointers and maybe a test ride to double check that I do like them.

Don't want to get one and hate it !!

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve.

Cue Sumo. He lives over your way. Very nice man, especially if you have a bloomin' great gearbox and transfer box that needs shifting.
      It's only a hobby!

Who? Me? What gearbox?.....Oh you mean that ****** great thing I had in the back of my surf for a week then let some one else put it in the back of yours!!!! Is it still in there or have you got it out yet????

Anyway Hi Steve Although I aint got a 3ltr (I got the best of the lot,A classic 2.4 1st gen)you are more than welcome to pop round theres a couple of places with surf's for sale, take them for a test run and let me convince you that a surf is just wot you need, then have a look at the surf's for sale section on here (best place to buy).If you cant find a 3ltr that is within your buget then have a look at pop's 2.4,I know both the vehicle and pop's and they are both genuine (plus Terrie aka make a wicked choccy cake)
If the puddles to deep..LEARN TO SCUBA.

The gearbox is on the floor of the garage now. I am going to chain it to the draw bar on the caravan as an anti-theft device.

Hi Paff, I am near Bury and have a 3rd gen 3.0. Best vehicle I have ever owned, though a bit thirsty. If your interested I would let you have a ride in mine to see the difference between a 2.4 and 3.0. The 3rd gen has more rear leg room, but costs more. I believe for the kind of money you have you should be able to get a 2nd gen, with maybe a 3.0

                Hi,

Tnx 4 your replies, I'd like to take the offer of a ride with Sumo, R U abt over next weekend?

Only having sat in a Surf, I need to try B4 I buy.

What MPG am I looking at?

Question - What years do 2nd/3rd Gens cover?

There is a J reg Surf in a Kesgrave sales yard (2.4 SSR-X), at £3500 ish. The speedo has a MPH face and has 163,000 on it! Do you think it's a MPH cover that goes over the KM speedo and it's 163,000 km ?

Ideally I'd like to trade in my current vehicle, I know I'll pay more for this. Or at a push I can buy the Surf from a private buyer then sell mine.

                What do you think?

                Regards,
                Steve.

Sounds steep to me mate, i've just paid 3500 for a 93 (k) 3.0 ssr-x from a dealer with 50k miles on the clock. Pick it up in 12 hours time
                            Cheers

                            Simon

                            MPG? Don't you mean GPM.
